Rescue The Data From Your Dell PC

DELL DIMENSION 2400:

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 which I am having trouble operating. The problem is that the computer won’t work, so I ran a diagnostics program using BIOS. This seemed to work, and I got an LED light display which is usual with the Dell. However, the lights seemed to be displaying in a way which is not available in the manual. For example, the appearance of the lights is that A, B and C are all off, and there is an amber light on D. I have tried to search for a solution online, and either I am not using the right phrases, or there is no answer out there. My main problem has been that I cannot get the computer to stay on for more than about 2 minutes at a time, without holding in the power button. I need to get some large database and video files recovered from the computer.

DELL DIMENSION 2400:

I am having a problem with a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop, which is starting up, as usual, but then the keyboard is freezing. This means that I can’t get to the login page, and of course I cannot type the password in order to login effectively. I don’t know what the matter is with the system. I have tried to take the keyboard out of the tower slot, attaching it to another USB port at the back. I have also swapped keyboards, and the new one has frozen, as well. I assume that means that there is some kind of problem in the tower itself, rather than with the keyboard. When I start up, there are the usual lights on at the front, and then the hard drive and fans start operating.
